10 Reasons Ohio Street Beach is Chicago’s Best Family Beach

I almost didn’t visit Ohio Street Beach during my recent trip to Chicago. An Uber driver told me it wasn’t worth the visit, and I almost took his advice. But boy, was he wrong! Our day at Ohio Street Beach turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip, and it’s now one of my favorite spots to recommend for families. Here are ten reasons why you should definitely consider making a stop at this charming beach in Chicago:

One of the best things about Ohio Street Beach is its convenient location. Nestled in the heart of downtown Chicago, it was a 6 minute walk from my hotel – W Lakeshore. It’s also just a short walk from popular attractions like Navy Pier and the Magnificent Mile. Plus, the scenic walk to the beach offers stunning views of Chicago’s skyline (which I thoroughly on an architecture boat tour), making the journey as enjoyable as the destination.

Ohio Street Beach is a haven for families. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with plenty of space for kids to play and adults to unwind. The beach is well-maintained and clean, with lifeguards on duty during peak times, providing peace of mind for parents. Ohio Street Beach truly exceeded my expectations, and I can’t recommend it enough for families visiting Chicago. It offers a perfect blend of relaxation, fun, and stunning views, making it an ideal destination for a memorable family day out.
