The Henley Park Hotel – A Beautiful Washington D.C. Getaway

Henley Park Hotel is the perfect location for a Washington, D.C., getaway. This past weekend, hubby and I packed our bags, loaded our car, and headed to Washington, D.C., for a concert and romantic getaway. We were very pleasantly surprised by our experience. The Henley Park Hotel is a historic boutique hotel in the heart of Washington, D.C. Built in 1918; it was initially an upscale Tudor-style building offering apartments to politicians in Washington, D.C. The building was converted into a hotel in 1982. Today, the Henley Park Hotel features a lobby with original stained-glass windows, traditional archways, luxurious guest rooms, suites, excellent dining options, and event spaces. The hotel’s beautiful architecture and charming decor make it a popular choice for travelers seeking a unique and memorable stay in Washington, D.C.

While the staff warmly greeted my husband, Martin, and me, check-in took longer than expected. Martin booked our stay through the third-party site booking.com. Due to this, there was a discrepancy between the room we booked and the rooms they had available. We booked a Superior King room online, and there were no more Superior King rooms available, or any other standard rooms for that matter. Fortunately for us, we ended up being upgraded to the Ambassador Suite. The Front Desk agent told us that Ambassador Suite typically costs $500 a night, which was much more than we paid for the room.

According to the Henley Park Hotel’s website, room prices are as follows:

Superior Queen Room – Starting at $109

Deluxe King Room – Starting at $159

Junior Suite Room –  Starting at $159

The Ambassador Suite at the Henley Park Hotel lived up to its name. The room was 200 sq ft and included one bedroom with a king-sized bed, a formal living room, a kitchenette, a bathroom, and a closet. The room also had two flat-screen TVs (one in the bedroom and one in the living room), spa robes and slippers, and all the toiletries from one of my favorite stores, Bath & Body Works! Staying in a beautiful hotel, in a luxurious room in one of my favorite cities, was the self-care I needed.

Dining at the Henley Park Hotel

The Tavern Restaurant at the Henley Park Hotel

We could not dine at the Henley Park Hotel because our stay was short. I did, however, have an opportunity to peek in at their acclaimed restaurant, The Tavern. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food.

Breakfast, Lunch, and dinner are available at the restaurant. The menu included various gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options.

Afternoon Tea

As a nod to the Henley Park Hotel’s English Tudor architecture, afternoon tea is also available in the restaurant. It can also be taken in the hotel’s formal sitting room. As a part of the afternoon tea experience, scones, finger sandwiches, cocktails, and of course, tea is available.

Blue Bar Lounge at the Henley Park Hotel

The Blue Bar Lounge had a traditional feel with a modern twist. Their menu included everything from creative cocktails to hot toddies. It would have been a vibe.
