Moms Need Rest Too
(Plus Some Suggestions On What To Do During Rest Time)
Do you know who the people who get the least rest tend to be? Yes, that’s right moms. Indeed, it often seems like a mom’s work is never done, and there is always another pressing task, or grazed knee that we must attend to. However, moms are usually the people who need rest even more than anyone else. The reason is that not only do we tend to be overworked, but the rest of the family relies on us too. What that means is we need to protect our energy levels so the important stuff that everyone relies on us for gets done. The good news is there are a range of options that can provide a little rest in our lives every day. Read on to find out what they are:
Reading
One of my favorite tasks for rest is reading. I love the way that the simple act of grabbing a book forces you to sit down and slow down for a while. Books are also a wonderful opportunity to escape into another world, see things from someone else’s perspective, and even learn a thing or two. Indeed, as you can see from my current reading list, books that educate are a particular favorite of mine!
However, if the thought of sitting down with a book and cracking open the spine seems a bit too overwhelming, do remember that most publications are available in audiobook format now as well. The only issue with audiobooks is that you can be tempted to do something else, like chores while you listen, and that’s not ideal for rest. Although it can liven up your errands and tasks no end!
Watching your favorite show
Another hugely effective way to relax is to tune into your favorite show. Of course, there is such a wide range of shows to choose from including soap operas, true crime, dramas, and comedies. There are also a wide range of platforms to watch your favorite shows on. Although many are dismayed that the popular free streaming service soap2day is no longer available. The good news is that there are plenty of soap2day alternatives to choose from online. All of which are free to use and easy to access with a VPN.
Arts and crafts
If you are an arty or crafty person, engaging in a creative activity can be a wonderful way to rest and refresh your body and your mind. The trick here is to pick something simple enough to make it enjoyable, and not too frustrating.
For example, if you are going to choose crochet then making a project with very simple granny squares is a good place to start, as the pattern is easy to follow and the repetitive motion of making the squares not only makes it easy but can be quite relaxing as well.
Nothing/nap
Yep, doing nothing is a perfectly acceptable option for your rest time. Whether that means simply relaxing and being, or taking a well-deserved nap on your couch or bed, doing nothing at all can be just as restful and restorative as any of the suggestions above. Just be sure to remind the kids not to wake you up while you snooze!
