The pressures of parenthood often mean that moms put the needs of everyone else in their family before their own. While this makes sense in theory, it’s crucial that you look out for yourself, too! 

With that in mind, here are some top tips that you can use to live your best mom life in 2024!

Chase your passions

According to a recent study, “85% of moms said that they had no hobbies, while their male partners absolutely did.” Given the many benefits associated with participating in a hobby, this is something that must change.

Moving forward, try to set a few hours aside each week that you can spend doing something you truly enjoy. For example, if you are a keen reader, you may want to use this time to catch up on the latest releases, or to join a book club. 

Hobbies can help you to establish your identity outside of being a parent, something which is important when you consider the fact that 62% of new mothers believe they lost a part of their identity when becoming a parent

 

Set new career goals

Setting new career goals can also help you to live your best life in 2024, whether you’re getting back on the ladder after taking some time off or simply taking the next step in your career.

While you may be ready to commit to the “hustle” when it comes to career progression, be sure that you’re cultivating a healthy work-life balance. This way, you stay on top of your goals without burning out or feeling as though you’re chained to your desk 24/7. 

 

Find new ways to boost your confidence

Many moms claim to feel markedly less confident after having children, especially when it comes to their appearance. Of course, there are many ways in which you can build your self-esteem in this regard. Regular exercise can help you to improve your relationship with your body by facilitating healthy weight loss.

Alternatively, you could look into cosmetic procedures that help you target specific areas of your body that you are unhappy with. While I am a proponent of working out to get the results you want, once you have committed yourself to a healthier lifestyle and still don’t dee the results you want, you may want to consider a cosmetic procedure. Practice self-care

Practicing self-care is one of the easiest ways to make more time for yourself as a busy mom while also ensuring that your needs are met. After all, self-care encourages you to consciously address your needs and wants, as opposed to brushing them under the rug.

Remember, self-care looks different to each and every person. For example, a self-care routine could include: 

  • A daily beauty and skincare regimen 
  • Half an hour of quiet or alone time each day
  • Listening (and singing along) to your favorite songs
  • Participating in your hobbies 
  • Spending time with your friends 

 

Spend quality time with your kids

While any time with your children is time well-spent, making a real effort to spend quality time together as a family is another great way to live your best mom life in 2024. For example, you could try to plan one family day out a month! Remember, these do not have to be expensive outings. In fact, they don’t have to cost you any money whatsoever. For example, you could visit your local park, or a museum, many of which are free to enter. 

 

Talk about how you are feeling. 

Many parents are guilty of burying negative thoughts and emotions instead of talking about how they are feeling. For example, you may be worried that opening up will mean others will doubt your skills as a mom or view you differently – but this is not the case. There’s nothing to be gained from staying silent but everything to be gained from speaking up!

After all, a problem shared is a problem halved – and discussing your concerns with your partner, friends, or family often means that you can gain a new perspective on the situation that is troubling you. Even in the cases where the issue is not resolved, speaking about it means that you’ll feel less alone and comforted by the fact that you know you’ve got a support network to rely on.

If you’re not quite ready to speak to those close to you, consider reaching out to a therapist instead. While this, too, can be daunting, they will help you come to terms with how you are feeling and find healthy ways to cope with your emotions.
